Watching these short comedy films was fun and enjoyable. After watching them I had some clear favorites and I of course absolutely hated “Time for Sushi”. Most of these were great and had good punchlines and stories to tell.             My favorite film of the bunch was a little difficult to pick until I saw “Fear of Flying”. This film completely won me over not because of the short film's fantastic use of a “dad joke” as the main punch line, but because of its film style. Its miniatures were very appealing to me as I grew up watching the original Thomas the Tank Engine series which used this style to make up multiple scenes and different characters to tell great stories from a “realistic” point of view.             I think I picked this one over the others mainly because of the style it has chosen, but to be honest, the other films felt cheap and tacky at times. Which it does a good job at, and I’ll talk about later. The film Burnt is about the grit, determination, and boldness of chefs in the most prestigious and modern kitchens around the world. Following the story of Adam Jones played by Bradley Cooper, this film explores the complexities and dynamics of a kitchen while also showing the extreme amount of stress that inflicts the day-to-day worker. In the official trailer for the film, we get to hear a summarized story of Adam Jones’s life and why he is such a renowned chef. This story is told by himself and other characters that are in the film. This I feel is very useful in helping the viewer get an idea for the film and what it will entail.  First off, I'd like to say that this film was great and I had a very good time watching it. I feel like I wouldn't have seen it if it wasn't for this assignment. Everything about this film was great from the casting, and editing, to the story it tells was beautiful.       Overall, this film shows many different aspects to life that we all experience and really dives into different family dynamics. But one thing this movie really explores is nihilism. When the audience finds out Evelyn’s daughter, Joy had become an antagonist for the film, she begins to express her disappointment in everything and believe that nothing matters in the grand scheme of things.  In Moonlight (2016) written by Barry Jenkins and Tarell Alvin McCraney, the theme that is conveyed throughout the film is identity.  Chiron’s whole life he struggles to find who he is. Growing up he is bullied by the other boys as he doesn’t quite fit in. He is much smaller compared to the others, so he is regularly picked on and nicknamed “little”. In the scene where Chiron leaves the rest of the boys playing in the park, Kevin notices that Chiron is always picked on by the other boys and helps Chiron to stand up for himself. Kevin explains that if Chiron doesn’t stand his ground and fight back that he will always get picked on. So, Kevin wrestles with Chiron to help him believe in himself more and when they are done wrestling Kevin says, “…I knew you wasn’t soft.”, helping Chiron gain some confidence in himself.
